In a tragic weekend in Grindelwald the SX community lost a fellow Canadian skier Nik Zoricic. After the tragic accident the organisers decided to cancel the entire event in Grindelwald, including the remainder of Saturday's race and the World Cup Final on March 11th. That meant that the results from the qualifying round counted as the final results of Saturday's race. Filip Flisar qualified 1st and that put him on top of the mens SX standings winning him the World Cup SX Crystal Globe.
Filip found his form at Alpe d'Huez where he took his first ever WC win. He confirmed his result with three other podiums, last one in the tragic Grindelwald. Also worth mentioning is his 2nd place at the Winter X Games in Aspen. Flisar will also be representing Slovenia at the next Winter Olympic games and will surely be one of the top contenders to take home the gold.
