It started with knowledge, vision and ambition of Elan's founding father Rudi Finžgar, a passionate ski jumper. Elan was formally established as an enterprise on September 24th 1945. In the years after the company participates in its first fairs, opens its first store and starts exporting skis to United States.
These years are connected with continuing expansion of the company's product range and also a quest for the most suitable marketing scheme. The main products are tennis and badminton rackets.
Key decade for Elan - the company specializes in ski production. Elan takes great pride in a major achievement: the biggest star of world cup skiing Ingemar Stenmark rides Elan's superb skis to first victory.
Elan holds the enviable position of being one of the biggest and strongest ski manufacturers in the world. This brings multiple international awards to the company. Meanwhile Elan sets up its own companies in important markets. Ingemar Stenmark and Bojan Križaj are on top of their careers.
In spite of difficult circumstances the company holds a crucial part in the so-called "carving-revolution" with new SCX skis. It evolves into an important manufacturer of snowboards. Elan got new management. A decisive turn-around is achieved.

WaveFlex technology has been expanded to almost whole collection of skis and is world’s most awarded ski technology. This is proven by the European ski award at ISPO 2006, the Red dot award in 2007, a Silver medal in the Designpreis 2008, the Plus X award in 2009, the Red dot award in 2010, the Plus x award in 2010 and Good Design Award in 2010. In 2011 Elan introduced new revolutionary innovation – Amphibio. Amphibio skis already received prestigious awards - two Red dot awards, two Plus X awards and Universal Design Award.
